Each provider is scored 0-10 in five categories: Coverage (30%), Pricing (20%), Speed (20%), App (20%), and Support (10%). The overall score is the weighted average of all five.
Who conducts the testing?
The The Rankings Desk travels to 24 destinations each cycle and tests on iPhone 15 and Pixel 8 simultaneously. Five speed tests per day across 7 days, plus 15 mystery-shopper support tickets per provider.
Can providers pay for a higher ranking?
No. Affiliate commissions exist on outbound provider links but are identical across all providers and cannot influence rank order. No provider pays for placement.
When is the next ranking update?
Rankings update quarterly. The next full re-test cycle is scheduled for August 2026. Out-of-cycle updates trigger when a provider makes material product changes.
